A coworker was fired from Boeing

A coworker was fired from Boeing and me and another employee was called in to ethics. After he was let go the union doesn't think they can save his job, we are a small group and he said the union told him that 2 people came forward against him, I thought all the info was anonymous and confidential, now I fear he may retaliate if he can't get his job, should I talk to a lawyer because of the way Boeing and the union handled the situation and didn't protect the confidentiality of the people who spoke to ethics?
