Answer to can my boss fire me for being sick
If your work is located within the city of Portland, then you probably have protectedsick leave, if you have been working for the employer for more than a few weeks.
In other words the city of Portland, prohibits the employer from firing you for calling in
sick.
Otherwise, if the company you work for has twenty-five or more employees, you can claim Oregon Family Leave Act (OFLA) leave without pay retrospectively for your emergency.
The company would be prohibited from firing you for doing that. But as of
now there is no law that prevents the company from firing you for calling in sick
if it has less than 25 employees
