8 months of work for a company, work siezed, no payment
I joined an IPO as a partner, working conditions have changed to negative. I am resigning. Company refuses to pay me for 8mos. of work ($20K) and has seized all of my intellectual property and is using it in sales, conferences, daily business ect. I created all documentation, web site etc for a software our group built. I also have documentation in the software being sold. What can I do to get my work back or get paid for its use if anything?

If you have not already resigned, I suggest that you speak with a lawyer first because there may be things you can/should do from a strategic point before resigning. You may have a claim for breach of contract, you may have a claim for conversion (which is like theft). If you have any paperwork setting out the agreement between you and the IPO, or even just notes of your understandings, those should be taken to the attorney for review and advice. My practice is in Houston, so you may prefer a Fort Worth lawyer. If so, I highly recommend Rod Tanner, who is there in Fort Worth. He's well-experienced in employment law and breach of contract claims. Rod is a great lawyer whose advice I would trust. Good luck to you.
