Do I have a case for being harassed over a non compete?

At my last job I signed a non compete. I left because the company did not give me the position they promised. When I left it was on good terms. and I finished all my projects. When I started with the new company I contacted three people that had projects with the new company I work for to let them know I work there. Now I am getting threatening letters from their lawyers. They also want me to pay for classes they paid for. When I left I asked about them and they said I have done a lot for them and not to worry about it. I responded and let them know I quit because the did not have the position they promised. The lawyer responded that I was incompetent for the position. However, I have great reviews from them and I was put into a similar position that the lawyer did not realize I had. They continue to send threating letters. Can I sue them for not haveing the position they promised and or for harassment?

As a general rule, noncompete agreements are not enforceable in California. But if you have a noncompete that is enforceable in another state, you may have a problem with that rule, and that is why it is so important to consult with a skilled and experience California employment attorney just as soon as possible.
