Do I have to disclose if I've had a record expunged?

I had a misdemeanor for an NSF check back in the 1990s. It was expunged. I'm now applying to the state of Ohio for my teaching license. One question is "Have you ever had a criminal conviction sealed or expunged?" What's the point in having it expunged if you have to disclose it and explain it anyway?? Thanks!

In the education area it is not unusual for them to ask, but if you are truthful it may end being unlawful for them to act on the truthful response and treat it as if you still have the conviction on the record. If something strange happens after you disclose, then I would promptly see an employment lawyer in your area of Ohio.

An employer can lawfully ask if you have had a record expunged. If you do not answer truthfully, it can be grounds for discharge or license revocation.
