If I don't get paid for my part time job for almost 5 weeks, do I have the right to get the wages back?

I was hired as a part time helper in a clinic in China Town NYC since end of February. I kept asking the employer the time I should get paid.
but she did not answer me. I did not sign any employment contract. Recently I resigned and the employer gave me some reasons of trying not to pay me wages. Should I get my wages back since I had worked in that clinic for a month with over 110 hours ? Thanks for your valuable advice.

You are entitled to be paid for all hours worked. No contract is needed. Even if I did not know you and you came on my property and I saw you begin working for me by mistake and I said nothing I would owe you the reasonable value of services you provided for me.

Tell the employer if you are not paid you will call the Department of Labor.
