If fired by a company, then offered a job back, is the Non-compete still in effect from the first co

I worked with a nightclub company and was a top earner in the year 2009. The first week of 2010, I was let go for no just reason. I waited 2 months before asking for a release from my non-compete clause and was denied. I wanted to work at a competitors pool lounge, something I never did for the previous company, as I was only associated with nightclubs. Upon denying me a release, my old company offered me a job back with them at their pool. I do not want to work with this company again, but may have to. Does offering me a new job, where I have to fill out all new paperwork and sign a new contract, release me from my old contract?
