The Company cheated me when paid me the severance
I’m in Hong Kong. I worked for a public listed Company in Chestnut Ridge, New York. I was released last month because the re-organization. The Company agreed to pay me the severance.
On the last day, they asked me to sign a document regarding the amount of the severance. On it, they put all stuff, such as annual leave, stock option compensation and others compensation together, and refused to make a detail breakdown. I refused to sign too. After arguing over 10 minutes, they gave up and gave me the breakdown. I found the figure on it was not correct.
But when I told them the calculation of my annual leave was incorrect, they deducted the amount in others compensation. When I pointed out the item of “Others” was not correct, they deducted the days of the annual leaves, and so on.
This means they known the amount is not correct but just wanted to cheat me. I keep all the documents.
I'm very angry about it. I would like to know if I can get sizeable penalty from this disgusting Company. Thanks.

Once you get into New York employees of New York companies working at foreign locations, or foreign employees of New York companies at foreign locations, things get terribly complicated.
You need a private consultation with a qualified attorney. You might be able to speak or otherwise communicate with someone in New York, but you should expect to pay fees. Many attorneys these days accept credit cards, so that arranging payment should not be difficult.
