Was not offered Severance and being terminated while Hospitalized

Hello, I was hospitalized April 14 2014 due to a procedure I was having. Unfortunately, I had major complications. In August of 2014 I was contacted by my employer to tell me they can no longer hold my position and would have to release me of employment. At this time I was already vested with my company. I was not offered any severance package AT All. My company did offer packages, because a co- worker of mine before me went thru some similar issues and was forced to give up her position and she was offed severance, mind you I had been with the company longer than she had been. I was not released from the Hospital until March 2015. I was wrongly done, and I am pretty sure there is nothing I can do about this now, or can I?? Since the release, I have not found long term employment, I am applying everyday and have not given up, but I wasn't sure if anything can be done to assist me?
