Unexpected duties

Generally, in New York State, an employer has a lot of freedom to assign or take away duties. I don't know whether you are in New York, but if you are, and if you don't want to do the things your employer tells you to do, all you can do is look for a different job. If you have evidence that your employer is trying to drive you away or harass you for a discriminatory reason, it might be illegal, but it's still a difficult case.
