can earned vacation be taken away because change of policy
i had 12 days vacation already earned and was informed that in jan everybodys vacation would start over if you had any vacation left that it would be lost starting january 1st and start overthen and company policy is you cant take vacation during holiday weeks so i ended up losing all 12 days i am a salaried employee is this legal

Legal probably not, if the company's policy was before that the employee could keep or carryover X number of days. The real issue is whether seeking a remedy would be worth it for loss of 12 days pay. In essence, the employer has a right to change policy, it is whether that change violates any law. Here the amount of notice on the change is important. If all employees had 6 months to schedule and did not, then the argument gets harder for the employee. You should speak to an employment attorney near you.
