fired employee who, under loan agreement still owes company $1,000. Not going to pursue employee as bad exit. Do i just included the $1,000 on w-2 ?

have loan agreement. had paid a few months down.
company terminated without cause.

Should you not ask your accountant that question to get the most advantageous tax treatment of a bad or potentially not collectible debt?
