i was working as an independent contractor for a cleaning company based our of maryland, however i live in pa. my checks were missing mkney for several months so i finally threatened to quit, my boss and i had many arguements where he stated he was not going to pay me anythung unless i pived out a two weeks notice, i then contacted corporate office and then was sent a check for everything i was owed previous to that day.. all of my worked hours and pay that had been missing. i agreed to continue working for my boss with an agremeent that no more money woukd be nissing from my check, however within thr next 2 weeks there was still threats to not pay me now for the 2 weeks that i have been workong so i lef thr company. my boss wantes his keeps back, now in this 2 week timeframe i had cashed my check at a check cashung place as always as i do not have a bank account. on my last day my boss had called me statung to take the keys to another employeer and i eould recieve last check in the mail i declined and said i will meet him in peraon because i do not trust him to give me my last check.. we argued back and forth all day along woth coprotate before finally receieving a call from corporate statung ny last check was western unioned to me. i went and picked it up. saw that it was the corrwct amount and handed keys in. about a week later i get a call from check cashing placr saying my check was cancelled. i told the woman that i was unaware but spoke briefly of the issues i was having even getting the check from my boss. she assurrd me that this happens alot and that they were just gojng to hand it over to the police, i thought okay great. the police will make him pay the check cashing place as this is my pay roll check and he cancelled it juat to be ignorant to me. well months later i get a call from thr police saying i am reaponcible my boss says i double dipped prefty much and i was never supposed to cash the check. i sent recorded phone calls and everything to the pllolice officer and explained to him what really happened. and neber heard anything back its been aboit 2 weeks. now i also callrd rhe check cashing place and explained that i never would want to take money that isnt mine and i asked if it is likely that the police could turn this arohnd on my boss, being as i am victim in this situation as well and they said they ddidnt know. i also informed them that if it is not able to happen that way that i would just like to pay the money back instead of having criminal charges pressed on me but that i was going to wait and see what the officer has to say about the emails that i sent him of the voice recordings of my boss agreeing to send me the money. now two weeks later i get court papers in the mail that i ahve criminal charges broight on me. what should i do. i havent heard anything back from the police and i am livid.
