non-compete question
I recently went to work for a pet sitter and signed a non-compete agreement. Things have not worked out between us and she sent me an email stating "I've decided I need everything from you that belongs to ****** i.e. client folders and all business documents, if you want to keep the clients under a new business name that you have been doing in your neighborhood, its fine with me, but not doing business under the name ******." With this email from her, does this negat the non-compete and allow me to be able to continue pet sitting under me own business name?

There is very little in the law that isn't gray. Your employer is acting better than some who have required their employees to sign covenants, but I would suggest that you seek a consultation with counsel just to make sure. As for whether her email voids the covenant you signed, I think you should go over all the facts with a lawyer just to be safe. The email is certainly helpful, but it is not wise to render a legal opinion about a covenant based on such scant information. Good luck.
