still waiting for commission payment....

I was layed off from my company in October. At that time my employer owed me commission for Sept and October. It is now December and I still have not received payment. Is there a law in NY that requires an employer to pay you all monies owed in a certain timeframe?

Unpaid Commissions

Yes, there are laws in NYS requiring relatively prompt payment of both wages and commissions. But neither law is self-executing. Meaning, if your ex-employer is in violation of the applicable law, you need to file a complaint somewhere, even small claims court if the amount owed is small enough.
