working 10 days straight, no overtime pay?

my friend works as a pharmacy technician in a retail pharmacy. the employer considers a workweek as friday through the following thursday. she's often scheduled to start work from sunday through tuesday 10 days later. according to the employer she only works 40 hours per workweek (sun-thurs, fri-tues)but in reality she works 10 consecutive days. does the law that states an employee that works over 40 hours a week should be paid overtime apply? she worked 10 days straight and never received overtime pay. all the days she worked are 8 hours a day and she's a hourly rate employee.

overtime issues

Please provide me information regarding the name of the employer and more information regarding her hours worked. Once I receive this information, I can provide a better answer to the question. As a basic rule in California, however, any time worked over 40 hours a week must be compensated at an overtime rate. I look forward to receiving additional information from you.
