About Me:
Kate Sedey is a Partner at The Case Law Firm where she represents and advises employees regarding their legal rights and protections in the workplace. Ms. Sedey has a diverse body of experience working in the plaintiff’s side employment law field – from trying cases, arguing motions and negotiating settlements, to researching and drafting legal memorandums and briefs, interviewing and deposing witnesses, and answering and organizing discovery.
Ms. Sedey graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from New York University in 2004 and she graduated with honors from Chicago-Kent College of Law in May 2009 where she received her Juris Doctor and a Certificate in Labor & Employment Law.
Ms. Sedey’s interest in employment law developed early. During her under-graduate years, she assisted in a nation-wide class action lawsuit representing women who had been discriminated against on the job.
Ms. Sedey actively pursued her interest in employment issues while studying at Chicago-Kent. She participated in the Labor & Employment Certificate program, and was a two-time recipient of a scholarship from Chicago-Kent’s Institute for Law & the Workplace. In addition, Ms. Sedey was a member of the Chicago-Kent Moot Court Honor Society, for which she coached a team to participate in the national Wagner Labor & Employment Law Moot Court Competition in 2009. In her role on the Chicago-Kent Law Review, Ms. Sedey was approved for publication of her article, “Applying the Discovery Rule to Title VII Pay Discrimination Claims: One Post-Ledbetter Strategy.” Ms. Sedey received an award for excellence in legal writing in 2007, and served as a legal writing Teaching Assistant in 2008 and 2009.
Ms. Sedey has been named a Rising Star in 2012, 2013, and 2014 by Illinois Super Lawyers for her work as an employment litigation attorney.
