Shift work.
I perform computer help desk support for a large airline catering company in Memphis. I am an exempt employee (No overtime). My regular work hours were Monday -Friday 8:30am to 5pm (7.5 hours). My supervisor recently put me on a shift that one month I work 7am-5pm and the next month 10am to 7pm (8 hours).
I was put into an on-call rotation that makes me carry a beeper every 4th week instead of once every 8 weeks.
I was told that the supervisor could make me work 12 hours a day 7 days a week if he wanted without additional compensation. Is this true?
I know that there were some changes to the overtime laws recently (last few years). How do I get the new regulations so I can see if I qualify as an hourly employee?

You may be entitled to overtime, but it depends on the specifics of your day-to-day job duties, your experience and education. Whether or not an exemption applies has very little to do with the job title and more to do with how your work is done.
