Should I have been paid my vacation time upon dismissal, per company policy?

I was informed on a Tuesday that my last day would be that Friday. I was originally given the reason as low sales however when I pointed out my sales were up,I was told the company had decided to move in a different direction. Upon separation I was asked to sign a termination notice that had the reason portion left blank and was told by the branch manager that this portion would be filled out after I signed, when I refused he stated he couldn't put the real reason. When I still refused he marked the reason as unknown. My last check did not have pay for my unused vacation timeand I was informed that they do not pay unused vacation time to terminated employees. The handbook states that "Upon termination of employment, employees can only be paid for 120 hours of vacation timethat has been earned through the last day of work. However, if AFI, in its sole discretion, terminates employment for cause, or the employee quits without providing a worked two week notice, forfeiture of unsed vacation time will result." Sould I have been paid my vacation time based on my termination notice stating the reason as "unknown"? And I might add that I was never written up or given a verbal notice for any infractions. It's now been over two years and the company "upon my release" merged my sales territory with another and never rehired someone to fill my vavancy, essentially they downsized.
