Transfer Request

Can your boss hold your transfer request for four days, then give it back to you with a "Performance Improvement Plan"? My past work history is excellant, there are no prior indications of improvement being needed. Nor have there been any improvement requirements requested of me in the last 12 years of my employment in the same field. I can only assume at this point my boss did not want me to transfer.
Sincerely,
Help me in Texas.

employee at will

The short answer is yes. Barring a discriminatory motivation for his action, and assuming you are an employee at will and not subject to a contract that stipulates how transfers will be handled, your boss can legally take the actions he has taken. You can raise it with HR and request that the PIP be removed as unwarranted, or look for another job in which your boss will hopefully treat you with more respect. Good luck.
